Last week, at the Geneva International Motor Show ( where TAG likewise reported the Monaco Gulf Special Edition ), Jean-Claude Biver (CEO of TAG Heuer and President of the LVMH Group Watches Division) and Andy Palmer (President and CEO of Aston Martin) declared that TAG Heuer has been picked as Official Partner, Official Watch Partner and Official Connected Watch Partner of Aston Martin and Aston Martin Racing. That’s a mouthful… so let’s examine what intrigues us most: the new TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Aston Martin.
Back in the 1960’s and 1970’s Heuer, and later TAG Heuer, supported Ferrari and a large group of individual drivers and they were first to do as such. Indeed, it nearly seems as though Jack Heuer imagined supporting dashing, race drivers and even an Italian games vehicle brand. Nowadays the coordinated efforts and associations between a watch brand and a vehicle brand, or even the whole F1 association (Rolex collaborated with them), seems to be a demonstrated idea. IWC works together with Mercedes AMG , Hublot collaborated with Ferrari , and a week ago we educated you regarding Richard Mille collaborating with McLaren .
The beneficial thing pretty much all of this is that we get some cool vehicles to show to you, in the middle of all the watch-content, and there are uncommon versions or restricted releases being dispatched to pay tribute to the new joint efforts. So next to a large group of organizations and association exercises, TAG Heuer dispatched two watches to pay tribute to the new partnership(s). One of them is the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin, and being a battery-powered quartz watch, we won’t spend such a large number of words on it. The other is the Carrera Heuer 01 Aston Martin and that’s something we unquestionably have a liking for, here at MONOCHROME.
TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Aston Martin
The premise is the notable Carrera Heuer 01, as we investigated it ( see here ) three years prior ( a year ago we additionally inspected the full clay variant .) A hardened steel case, estimating 45mm in distance across, with a sapphire precious stone in the front (domed, sloped edge, twofold enemy of intelligent treatment) and a sapphire sheet in the dark PVD covered case back. It’s water impervious to 100 meters and inside dwells an in-house chronograph development. This implies that this Carrera is a major and energetic chronograph that you don’t need to eliminate from your wrist when you’re taking a shower or bouncing into a pool. You can without much of a stretch wear it when doing sports, or anything else…. an incredible day by day watch (or day by day blender as we will in general call it.)
Now the ‘novelty’ about this adaptation, is that it underlines the organization with Aston Martin. Therefore the Aston Martin name is engraved in the dark artistic bezel, between the red TAG Heuer ‘shield’, at the 12 o’clock position, and the beginning of the tachymeter scale. The dial is skeletonised in a hexagonal example that is roused on subtleties of the new Aston Martin Vantage, and as indicated by TAG Heuer this dial is restrictive for Aston Martin. The date is noticeable in a gap somewhere in the range of 3 and 4 o’clock, and the brand’s logo is situated next to the date, between the dial’s focus and the 3 o’clock marker.
Subdials for the 30-minute counter and 12-hour counter are at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock, and the little second hand is situated at 9 o’clock. Inside the little second subdial is the Aston Martin logo. The applied hour markers come with glowing material, similar to the steel hour and moment hands. Hands for the subdials are without brilliant material, and the tip of the middle chronograph second hand is painted red.
