So not just has the Automobile Club Monaco appointed TAG Heuer as official watch of the Grand Prix Monaco Historique, yet the brand launches another (and handsome) watch to commemorate this event… We advised you, a serious decent match. Meet the TAG Heuer Monaco Caliber 02 “Grand Prix de Monaco Historique” Edition.
Timekeeper of the Historical Monaco GP
Despite the fact that the 12th edition of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, booked to take place from 8 to 10 May 2020 on the legendary Monaco circuit, was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ACM has already started planning for the following edition and has appointed TAG Heuer as watch of the GP.
The biannual Grand Prix de Monaco Historique weekend is one of the features of the classic-car racing calendar, and its passionate community of proprietors, drivers and spectators relish the spectacle of memorable Grand Prix racing and love the warm soul and camaraderie around the circuit. In excess of 200 Grand Prix cars addressing 50 diverse car makers enter each occasion. Chosen for their historical value and degree of originality, they compete in seven series spanning the time frames from the 1930s to the 1970s. Drivers from in excess of 21 nations participated in the 2018 edition.
A dedicated TAG Heuer Monaco Caliber 02
As a recognition for this notable race, TAG Heuer is introducing a dedicated restricted edition timepiece… And, clearly, it had to be a Monaco watch. This “Grand Prix de Monaco Historique” Edition is based on the as of late presented upgrade executed by the brand on its classic watch, with the presentation of its in-house development in the square case – the new TAG Heuer Monaco Caliber 02 , replacing the Caliber 12 rendition with ETA-based development .
Apart from the new development, the brand retained most notable features of this 1969 watch, generally its square-shaped case with distending faceted crystal, a combination of cleaned and brushed surfaces, rectangular pushers and a perforated racing strap.
For this TAG Heuer Monaco Caliber 02 Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Edition CBL2114, the brand presents new tones, with an unprecedented yet striking shading plan. The dial, which features a combination of a round central part and radial indexes, is treated in silver (rhodium-plated) and red, over a sunray-brushed surface. The sub-counters for the chronograph – 30-moment and 12-hour – are marginally recessed and painted red as well. This red tone is also found on the central chronograph hand and the dabs that mark the hours. Remarkable for this edition, the small Grand Prix de Monaco Historique logo at 1 o’clock.
To power this edition, TAG Heuer confides in its in-house Caliber 02 development, presented first in the Autavia. This modern automatic chronograph has an integrated architecture (not modular as the Caliber 12) and is outfitted with a combination of a segment haggle vertical grasp for the control of the chronograph operations. It also boasts a comfortable 80-hour power hold. It is partially noticeable through the sapphire caseback, which is printed with the logo of the Monaco GP.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Caliber 02 Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is packaged in a red watch box that is decorated with a checkered racing flag – a gesture to the noteworthy Heuer watch box – and worn on a black calfskin strap with collapsing clasp.
