The Polo S is Piaget’s answer to the extravagance sports watch and was dispatched in 2016. With its 42mm cushion-shaped case and 1970s vibe, the 9.4mm tallness of the case remained surprisingly slim for an automatic sports watch and reflects Piaget’s custom of watches with lean profiles. For 2020, Piaget introduces another version of its PDV green dial, presently with rose gold hands and indices and a steel arm band.
Sporty dimensions, lean profile
No matter the number of watch writers professed to see similarities with the shape of the Polo S and other famous extravagance sports watches, the similarity fit as a fiddle with Piaget’s Emperador watches is evident. Like the Emperador, the case of the Piaget Polo S is a variety of shapes. The bezel is ostensibly round however the inside piece of the bezel draws a subtle octagon giving it a conspicuous cushion-shape. To emphasize the calculation, the 42mm case is beautified with brushed and polished finishes. The bezel, for instance, features an even brushed surface and sloped polished edges, similar to the lugs. The coordinated wristband echoes these finishes with polished outer links and a focal brushed connection. Another quality of the time-and-date Polo S models is its slim case tallness of 9.4mm, pretty lean for an automatic sports watch with an open caseback and water-resistance of 100 metres.
Green and gold
The green PVD-covered dial features the guilloché lines running evenly across the surface that describe this assortment. The engraved grooves play with the light and make an almost slope impact (you can see this impact in the live pics of the previous green PVD model ) across the surface. The huge news with the 2020 edition is that the hour markers, hands and even the casing of the date window are currently delivered in rose gold. The applied indices and the hands also have a thick streak of lume in their middle to help visibility in helpless light conditions. Despite the fact that it can’t actually be considered a two-tone watch, the contrast of steel looking into it and rose gold on the dial is eye-catching.
Another contrast with the previous green limited-edition Polo S is the presence of a stainless steel arm band, supplanting the green leather strap – giving this model a sportier look and more versatility.
Piaget 1110P Automatic
The sapphire crystal on the rear of this Polo S allows a perspective on the slim 1110P type, made by Piaget specifically for this assortment. It is an automatic development with a tallness of just 4mm that ticks at 4Hz during 50 hours, which is sufficient to give the watch a rest for the end of the week. No surprises in the improvement division, with roundabout Côtes de Genève both on the bridges and the slate dim rotor, angled bridges and roundabout graining on the mainplate.
