Phillips Watches as of late reported that on 10 December 2019, at the Game Changers Thematic Watch Auction, yet another notorious and tragically missing watch will go under the sledge: the renowned bezel-less Rolex GMT Master worn by Marlon Brando playing Colonel Walter E. Kurtz in Francis Ford Coppola’s film, Apocalypse Now. However, this isn’t the lone watch having a place with the entertainer that has been lost without a trace for years…
The whereabouts of the Rolex GMT were unknown as of not long ago. It has been held in care by Brando’s little girl, Petra Brando Fischer, who got the watch as a blessing from Brando in the wake of moving on from Brown University in 1994.
The watch comes precisely the manner in which it was worn by Brando in the film, with its bezel missing – which completely changes the presence of the watch. It is worn on its unique elastic lash and we additionally find that the caseback is engraved M. Brando, done by the entertainer’s own hand. A bit of the Brando watch continues will go to a magnanimous establishment for mishandled children.
This story of the Rolex GMT is now known and clear… But that is not by any means the only watch that Marlon Brando was wearing. Truth be told, we recently found that the renowned entertainer was additionally spotted on a few (private and public) events wearing another notorious watch, this time from Omega.
Marlon Brando’s (potentially lost) Omega Seamaster 300
Since the GMT Master has been rediscovered, I wonder where another watch of Marlon Brando’s might be lurking, and will we at any point see it? In 1963, Brando showed up on NBC News with Hugh Downs and the recognizable sight of an Omega stainless steel arm band and bezel could be seen peeking out from his sleeve, yet distinguishing the watch was too difficult.
In another shot of Brando showing up in a few days prior to showing up on NBC News, the wristband is obvious on his wrist. Obviously, it was his own watch.
In the exact year, Brando shot scenes for the film Bedtime Story, which was delivered in 1964. Lo and observe, he was wearing the Omega in the film! This photograph of Brando unwinding on set with co-stars David Niven and Shirley Jones shows an Omega Seamaster 300 on Marlon Brando’s wrist.

The timing bezel, the Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 are obviously noticeable, alongside the words Seamaster 300 at the 6 o’clock position on the dial. During the film, you can see it peeking free from his uniform. My informed conjecture is the watch is a 1961 or 1962 model, most presumably a reference CK 14755, as seen underneath (conspicuous gratitude to the bolt at the tip of the moment hand):
It would be another wonderful discovery… however Marlon Brando’s Omega Seamaster still can’t seem to be found!
