For the 2019 release of the biennial pledge drive for research on Duchenne solid dystrophy, Ateliers de Monaco is introducing a tourbillon watch encased in a creative manufactured carbon and gold case. Carbon fiber, gold and tar are combined as one, set in a shape, squeezed and afterward warmed to frame a square. The case is then machined to acquire the ideal shape. The final product is an extraordinary, differentiating, eccentric marbling pattern.
With its 44mm width, the Tourbillon Oculus 1297 highlights an off-focused hours and minutes show with Roman numerals and dauphine-style hands. It is bolted on a dim dial with a tablet design in help. The tourbillon at 6 o’clock is held under a sapphire extension. This exceptional piece is controlled by the programmed type DMC-980 totally created and made in-house by Pim Koeslag and his group. The brand expresses that it works with a rather amazing accuracy: it is controlled with a resistance between 0 to 2 seconds each 24 hours.
